million at large financial institutions, compared with $500,000
in 2001.

typically reported no higher than the CFO.

management.

Job Description
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility
for the development and implementation of a detailed business
risk management framework. He/She will advise the management on
overall corporate governance and best practices in business risk
management, ensuring that the firm’s risk portfolio is within
manageable limits.
Knowledge of commercial and/or
investment banking imperative.
Duties:
•Create a culture of intelligent risk-taking, heighten
awareness and use of advanced risk management practices through
educational programs, training process and personal mentoring
with senior executives, business unit management and general
staff;
•Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory
provisions regarding risk management, prompt reporting of risk
positions and provision of advice on possible resolutions of
critical issues;
•Maintain regular updates on trends and
advances in global risk management and ensure that knowledge and
relevant information is passed to business managers within the
Corporation.
Requirements
•Degree(s) in any discipline from a reputable institution
•Minimum of 10 years’ working experience; some of which must
have been in a similar role.
•Excellent understanding of
the local and global financial services industry and markets
•Good knowledge of the investment banking sector
•In-depth understanding and knowledge of best practices and
trends in risks management.

Chief Risk Officer you will:
* Be responsible for the quality and profitability of
the loan portfolio.
* Establish and develop credit,
collection & fraud policies and objectives to manage risk within
the company's acceptable risk ranges for commercial, consumer
and credit card lending.
* Develop risk management and
scorecard analytics.
* Ensure compliance with State and
Federal regulatory guidelines.
* Act as principal
spokesperson for the lending function.
* Make decisions
on both administrative and operational matters pertaining to
lending.
* Manage the loan approval process.
*
Supervise the collection of delinquent, non-performing and
charged-off loans.
* Work closely with legal counsel to
expeditiously resolve litigation while minimizing legal and
collection expenses.
* As part of the senior management
team, assist in the development of the bank and its strategic
direction.
* Manage Real Estate Other (REO) properties
to disposition.
Job
Requirements
Successful
candidates must have:
*10-15 years experience in
commercial, consumer and credit card risk management with
financial institutions.
* Strong knowledge in setting
and implementing credit policies as well as loss
control/collections is desired.
* Prior experience with
an ILC or bank preferred but not required.
*
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
required.
* MBA a plus.
* Knowledge of Loan
and/or Banking software.
* Strong knowledge of
Excel/Word/LotusNotes.
* Familiarity/capacity to learn
database/query tools/techniques.
